For vs Against
For many of us, the past 4 years have been a continual refrain of fighting against what was happening in our Federal government, amped up by the actions taken by people locally who felt empowered by the opinions of the White House.
As the Georgia runoff comes to a close and the Senate votes to ratify the Electoral College and we close in on Inauguration Day for our 46th President, it’s time to change gears and start fighting for causes we believe in.
Fighting against always generates more heat. It brings marchers out into the streets and inflames hearts.
Fighting for is usually quieter. It involves more negotiation to make changes stick. It often requires lengthy lead times to lay the groundwork. It takes place indoors in conversation more often than in the streets shouting.
Frankly, it’s less fun. And it’s exactly what we need to do.
